The procedure of Satyanarayan Puja

To I am telling How to Worship of Satyanarayan God.

The important part of this prayer involves praying to the Navagraha – or the nine significant celestial beings in this universe. They consist of the following names:

  1. Surya – The Sun
  2. Chandra – The Moon
  3. Angaraka – Mars
  4. Buddha – Mercury
  5. Brihaspati – Jupiter
  6. Suka – Venus
  7. Sani – Saturn
  8. Rahu – North Node, or the head of Svarbhanu
  9. Ketu – South Node as the body with the tail of Svarbhanu

  2. Cleaned room
  3. 2 new pieces of cloth
  4. Square platform for worship items
  5. 8 cups uncooked rice
  6. Copper pot (kalasha)
  7. 2 small images of Vishnu and Ganesha
  8. 4 oil lamps
  9. 10 turmeric pods
  10. 10 betel leaves
  11. 18 areca nuts
  12. 2 flower garlands
  13. Food offerings (prasadam), brought by attendees
  14. Flowers
  15. Skanda Purana
  16. Prasadam recipe (panchamrut):
  17. 1 cup whole milk
  18. one teaspoon curd
  19. 1 tablespoon honey
  20. 3 teaspoons sugar
  21. 1 teaspoon ghee
  22. one chopped ripe banana
  23. 1 chopped apple
  24. 2 teaspoons chopped dates
  25. 1.2 cup grapes
  26. 4 or 5 chopped basil leaves
  27. 1 teaspoon cardamom powder (optional)
  28. 1.2 teaspoons saffron (optional)

Sri Satya Narayana puja is a very popular ritual in most parts of India including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Bengal, Orissa, Maharashtra,Manipur, Assam, and Goa.

The ritual is usually performed on the Full moon day of every month, Ekadashi (11th day after full moon or new moon), Kārtika Pūrṇimā, Vaiśākhā Pūrṇimā, solar eclipse day or on Saṅkrānti except during Āṣāḍha Candra Masa. It is also performed on special occasions and during times of achievements, as an offering of gratitude to the Lord. These occasions could include marriage, graduation, the start of a new job, purchase of a new home, to name a few. In addition, the performance of this most auspicious puja generally confers a child to couples trying to start a family.
